MOM AND ME PAINT POTTERY!

The ‘Mom and Me’ program runs the second Monday of the month from September to May beginning at 10 a.m. Each program has a project and you may do it that way; or, feel free to come and do your own thing! ADULT workshops

Once or twice each month adult workshops are offered. Workshops target specific painting techniques and/or themes. Examples include designer glazes, silk-screens, paper cut-outs, stoneware, beer steins, and holiday designs. Notices are posted in the studio or join our email list to receive direct notifications.

Want your own garden/fairy bowl? We can help. Paint one of these bowls and all the supplies are included. On April 22 you can paint a bowl as shown or make a garden, also shown.

 Cost: Small bowl $35 – includes bowl, (1) figurine, (2) tots, such as mushrooms, (2) plants and all other supplies.

Large bowl $45 – includes bowl, (2) figurines, (1) tot, such as ladybug, (3) plants and all other supplies.

 A $15 deposit is required with each reservation. Two sessions will be needed, one to paint and one to assemble.

OR WE CAN COME TO YOU!

This is our 12th summer serving summer camps and childcare centers. And, we are still excited to bring pottery painting fun to your school or camp. If, however, you would prefer, you can schedule a field trip to come see us and get a studio tour and learn a little bit about the ceramic process!

An artist will bring in the pottery, set up, explain how it works, and help clean up before taking the pottery back to be dipped in a clear glaze and fired. Your instructors and camp leaders are expected to continue their roles as leaders and supervisors during our visit.

Below is a list of field trip packages. The cost listed is the cost per child. This fee includes: the piece that is painted, the glaze used to paint with, the clear dipping glazed applied over the painted piece once it returns to our studio and the firing fee. Payment is due the day of the field trip unless otherwise arranged. A credit card number is required to hold your reservation. If you cancel 5 or more days prior to your scheduled visit, there is no penalty. If you do not cancel within 5 days of your field trip, your card will be charged a $50 penalty charge.

A $20 set-up and transportation fee is automatically added to all facilities outside of the city of Powell. Expect someone to arrive and set up 20-30 minutes prior to the start time of your painting event.

The items painted will be ready for you to pick them up seven to ten days after our visit. We do have a delivery option available. We will deliver your finished pieces for $19.95. Please tell us no later than the day of service if you would like the delivery option. Pieces unclaimed in our studio will not be stored for more than 1 month.

We will bring a variety of miniature (2″ to 3″) figurines: horses, lions, elephants, sharks, dolphins, sails boats, lizards, turtles, frogs and more!

$5.00 or $7.00 – Magnificent Magnets
These fun projects will find a home on the kids’ refrigerators for a long time! Choose from a variety of (3″ to 5″) magnets: lady bugs, butterflies, flamingos, hearts, stars, lions, crocodiles, and more! One magnet per child $5.00 each; two magnets per child $7.00 each.

$10.00 – Mugs or Bowls
These fun and functional projects are sure to please the parents! Moms and Dads love drinking from mugs made by their little ones and bowls are sure to gets lots of use in the home. The items painted in our studio will be ready for you to pick them up one week to the day after your visit. For example, if you paint on Tuesday, they will be ready for you on Tuesday. The prices above are special field trip rates for groups of 15 or more and reflect approximately a 30% discount off of our regular pricing. If you have fewer than 10 attending, add $2 on per person to the packaged you selected. Also, please note: if you do not have a tax-exempt ID number, you are responsible by law to pay tax. If you are tax exempt, you must provide us with the relevant documentation.

What to Expect

Expect to receive the same great personal attention as a group that would come to our studio. Most field trips last between 1 to 1.5 hours depending on the age and size of the group painting.

Scouting Programs

Our studio offers several opportunities for brownies and girl scouts to fulfill full and/or partial badge requirements. In addition to our badge-focused packages, we offer scouting troops a 15% discount on the pottery events held at our studio. The 15% discount is applicable to our general inventory and is not available on the badge-focused packages.

The following packages include: A souvenir patch, 2 hours in our private party room, a brief educational talk on the process of ceramics, glazing and firing as well as a studio tour, one piece of pottery for each scout, and use of our decorative tools.

Brownie Projects:

1. Earn the Color and Shapes badge.

All badge requirements will be met/ $16 per child Make a mobile out of a lump of clay! Girls will create a concept-themed mobile and paint it with glaze at the studio. It will then be fired. Troops can them assemble the mobiles at a future meeting. Assembly is super easy and instructions are provided!

2. Partial Badge Requirement Projects:

a. Make it, eat it. Create a bowl for your brownie soup! Bowl is food safe. $15 per child
b. Building Art.
Create a Neighborhood: paint your neighborhood on a 6″ Tile. Put them together for a creative mural. Plan your neighborhood at a meeting before coming. We can provide tracing paper for any designs done in advance! $12 per child
c. Healthy Habits.
Washing works: paint a soap dish or a toothbrush holder $15 per child

3. Junior Girl Scouts/ Full Badge Requirements Ceramics & Clay Badge:
Learn about the process of ceramics from wet clay to finished ware, tour the studio, and create your own ceramic piece by painting glaze onto ceramic bisque. Scouts may choose from a tile $12.00 per child, a mug $15 per child, or a vase $22 per child.

Folk Art Badge: Learn about the international folk tradition of the garden Gnome. Garden Gnomes have been the subject of Folk art for several hundred years in multiple countries. Each scout gets to create her own miniature gnome $13.00 per child.

Visual Arts Badge: Learn about basic color mixing and practice mixing secondary colors on a color wheel palette. Then, learn how color effects the expression of mood and how monochromatic shading can also alter the feel of a piece. Choose to create your project on a tile $12.00 per child or a dessert plate $15.00 per child.
